A neighborhood facing deep poverty needed new programs and a new community resource center. The sponsors needed funding, governance and local capacity to deliver.
The approach
- Funding. Helped write the grant proposal and reported to funders.
- Capacity building. Built a curriculum covering project management, data and reporting, technology and soft skills.
- Governance. Served on PMO governing committees.
- Operations. Provided budget, program design and event support.
The outcomes
- Capacity-building curriculum in place for local partners
- Governance and funder reporting structures established
- Delivered on time and on budget
Why it matters for Altus clients
Community initiatives depend on local organizations having the capacity to run them. Building that capacity is part of the program, not an extra.
