Why It Matters

Many employees are unsure where the line is, especially with jokes, comments about appearance, or messages sent through chat and social media. Others see something troubling but do nothing because they do not know how to help or fear making it worse. Clear understanding and practical bystander skills help stop problems early. For organizations, harassment prevention protects employees, supports legal obligations, and builds a culture where people feel safe raising concerns.

Course Description

Written for every employee, the course covers recognition, response, and reporting. Participants learn what workplace harassment is, including sexual harassment and harassment based on other protected characteristics, and how it can occur in person, in writing, online, and at work events. Realistic scenarios help them distinguish rude behavior from harassment and recognize patterns that escalate. A core segment teaches bystander intervention using simple options: direct, distract, delegate, and follow up with the affected person. Participants practice what to say in each case. The course also explains reporting options, protections against retaliation, and what to expect after a report, with content tailored to the client's policies. Supervisors have a separate, deeper course. Everyone leaves knowing how to act if they see or experience harassment.
