Developing Creativity
Build a team culture where new ideas keep coming
Why It Matters
Most organizations say they want innovation, then reward predictability. Staff learn quickly that new ideas mean extra work, risk, or silence from management. Even a strong brainstorming session cannot overcome that climate. Leaders shape whether ideas surface, get tested, and survive. When they build the right conditions, teams adapt faster to change, improve services from the ground up, and keep engaged people who might otherwise check out or leave.
Course Description
Unlike a technique session, this course looks at the conditions surrounding people. Participants assess their own team's creative climate across factors such as psychological safety, autonomy, time for exploration, diversity of perspective, and how leaders respond to failure. Case discussions compare teams where ideas thrive with those where they stall. Participants then design practical changes: an idea intake and response process, ways to protect experimentation time, recognition that values learning as well as wins, and meeting habits that invite dissent. Role-plays let leaders practice responding to a half-formed idea in ways that build it up rather than shut it down. Each participant leaves with a climate action plan for the next ninety days.
