Goal Setting and Getting Things Done
Choose goals that matter, then follow through until they're done
Why It Matters
Most people set goals. Far fewer finish them. Goals that are vague, borrowed from someone else, or disconnected from daily work fade within weeks, leaving people discouraged. For employees, the ability to set and complete meaningful goals drives career growth and confidence. For organizations, it means individual development plans actually move, performance goals stay on track, and fewer initiatives quietly disappear. The gap is usually not motivation. It is planning and follow-through.
Course Description
The work starts with purpose: participants clarify what they want to accomplish professionally over the coming year and why it matters to them. They then shape one or two of those aims into clear, measurable goals and test them for realism. The middle of the course focuses on execution. Participants break goals into milestones and concrete next actions, identify likely obstacles with if-then plans, and attach each goal to a small daily or weekly habit. Pairs act as accountability partners, reviewing each other's plans and pointing out gaps. Discussion covers what to do when a goal stalls: adjust, recommit, or let it go. Participants leave with a one-page goal plan and a check-in schedule agreed with their partner or supervisor.
