Motivating Your Sales Team
Build a sales culture where effort and wins keep growing
Why It Matters
Sales is a demanding job with frequent rejection and constant measurement. When motivation drops, activity slows, good reps start looking elsewhere, and turnover costs pile up. Managers often reach for a contest or bonus, which helps briefly and then fades. Lasting motivation comes from a mix of fair goals, meaningful recognition, growth, and a team culture people want to be part of. Organizations with motivated sales teams see steadier results and keep their best people longer.
Course Description
Managers begin by assessing the current motivation picture on their team, looking at activity trends, turnover, and what reps say they value. They then examine incentive design, discussing how commission plans, bonuses, and contests can drive the right behaviors or accidentally reward the wrong ones. Recognition practice covers public and private acknowledgment that feels genuine. Participants also work on goal setting, breaking quotas into meaningful activity goals, and on leading a team through a slump. Case discussions explore individual motivators across experience levels. The group shares rituals that build team spirit without forcing it. Each manager builds a quarter-long motivation plan with specific actions and a checkpoint to review its effect.
