Employee Recognition
Build recognition that feels sincere, fair, and frequent
Why It Matters
When employees feel their work goes unnoticed, effort drops and turnover rises. Yet many recognition programs fall flat: the same people win, the praise is generic, or the program depends on a budget that disappears. Recognition does not need to be expensive to matter. It needs to be sincere, tied to real contributions, and shared fairly. Organizations that get it right reinforce the behaviors they want, and managers gain a simple tool for keeping morale up.
Course Description
The course covers both program design and day-to-day practice. Participants begin by auditing current recognition in their organization: who gets noticed, for what, and how often. They then examine what makes recognition land, including specificity, timing, and matching the form to the person, since some people welcome public praise and others do not. Small groups design a low-cost recognition approach for a sample organization and test it for fairness across roles, shifts, and locations. Participants practice writing and delivering specific recognition messages and get feedback from peers. The session closes with each manager setting a personal recognition rhythm and each HR participant drafting one program change to propose.
