Team Building for Managers
Lead your team from a group of individuals into a working unit
Why It Matters
New managers often inherit a group of people rather than a team, or rebuild one after turnover or reorganization. Without deliberate attention, cliques form, expectations stay fuzzy, and conflict either festers or explodes. Team-building events alone rarely fix this. The manager's daily choices about direction, roles, meetings, and recognition do. Managers who understand their role in team development build groups that settle faster, handle change better, and keep strong performers.
Course Description
Written for managers, the course treats team building as an ongoing leadership responsibility rather than a single event. Participants learn a common model of team development, from forming to performing, and identify where their own team is now. For each stage, they explore what the team needs from its manager: clarity and connection early, facilitation through conflict, and more autonomy as the team matures. Practical segments cover launching or relaunching a team, integrating new members, running team meetings that build cohesion, and choosing team-building activities that serve a real purpose. Case scenarios include inheriting a divided team and merging two groups. Managers leave with a team development plan for the next quarter, including specific actions and a review point.
