Team Building Through Chemistry
Turn different working styles into a team advantage
Why It Matters
Some colleagues want detail before deciding; others want to move fast. Some think out loud; others need quiet time. When those differences go unnamed, they read as stubbornness, disorganization, or coldness, and small frictions harden into strained relationships. Teams that understand and talk about working styles collaborate more smoothly and use each member's strengths. Organizations get fewer personality clashes and better decisions from teams that draw on varied perspectives.
Course Description
Participants explore working-style differences through a simple, non-proprietary self-reflection on a few dimensions: fast or deliberate pace, big picture or detail, task or relationship focus, and thinking aloud or reflecting first. There are no labels or scores, only conversation starters. Teams then map their combined styles to see where they are balanced and where blind spots might be. Interactive exercises make differences visible, such as solving a planning task in mixed-style groups and debriefing what helped or frustrated each person. Participants practice flexing their approach for a colleague with a different style and discuss how to assign work that uses complementary strengths. The session ends with each team writing a short user guide to working together.
