Why It Matters

Technical skill gets people hired, but how they handle pressure, setbacks, and other people's emotions often determines how far they go. Reacting in frustration, missing a colleague's stress, or taking feedback personally can damage relationships that took months to build. Organizations with emotionally intelligent employees see calmer handling of difficult moments, more constructive feedback, and stronger collaboration. These skills can be developed with deliberate practice at any career stage.

Course Description

Focused on the individual, the course moves through the four core areas of emotional intelligence one at a time. Participants begin by mapping their own emotional triggers and the physical and behavioral signals that come with them. Self-regulation practice includes pausing techniques and reframing a situation before responding. An empathy segment uses listening exercises to practice recognizing the feelings behind words. Social skill work ties the pieces together in short scenarios, such as receiving critical feedback or supporting a stressed colleague. Reflection prompts and paired discussion help people connect concepts to their real work. Participants close by choosing one habit to strengthen and a way to track it. Managers who want to apply these ideas to leading teams can continue with Applying Emotional Intelligence at Work.
