Teamwork and Team Building
The everyday habits that make you someone teammates rely on
Why It Matters
Most work depends on other people, yet few employees are taught what makes someone a good teammate. Missed handoffs, silent disagreement, and hoarded information slow everyone down and create resentment. Teamwork skills matter most for early-career staff and anyone joining a new group. When every member understands their part in a team's success, organizations see smoother projects, fewer dropped balls, and a culture where people want to collaborate.
Course Description
Aimed at all staff regardless of role, the course treats teamwork as a set of learnable habits. It opens with a hands-on group challenge that reveals how the group naturally communicates, plans, and divides work. The debrief introduces the core teammate behaviors: being reliable, communicating clearly, sharing information, offering and asking for help, and disagreeing productively. Each behavior gets a short practice activity, such as rewriting a vague handoff or rehearsing how to raise a concern about a shared deliverable. The group also discusses what to do when a teammate is not pulling their weight. Participants rate themselves on each behavior, pick one to strengthen, and identify a teammate to ask for feedback.
