FACILITATION & ADULT LEARNING
Train-the-Trainer
Turn subject experts into confident, effective trainers
Why It Matters
Organizations depend on internal experts to train new hires, roll out procedures, and deliver workforce programs. Many of those experts were never taught how to teach, so sessions turn into lectures, learners disengage, and skills do not carry over to the job. Developing internal trainers multiplies expertise across the organization, reduces reliance on outside vendors, and creates consistent learning experiences. For the trainers themselves, it builds presence and a valuable career skill.
Course Description
The course follows the same sequence Altus uses in its own training design: define the task, practice, apply, and review. Participants analyze the needs behind a session they must deliver and write performance-based objectives. They design activities that match the content, mixing explanation, demonstration, discussion, and practice. Each participant then delivers a short segment of their own training to peers and receives structured feedback on clarity, engagement, and pacing, followed by a second delivery to apply what they heard. Further segments address managing difficult participants, adapting on the fly, virtual delivery, and planning follow-up so learning sticks. Participants leave with a revised session design and personal delivery goals.
