Measuring Training Results
Connect learning to performance with evidence leaders trust
Why It Matters
Training budgets face tough questions, and many learning teams can only answer with attendance numbers and smile sheets. That makes training easy to cut and hard to improve. Funders of workforce programs increasingly expect evidence of skill gains and job outcomes. When evaluation is planned well, organizations learn which programs change performance, which need redesign, and where to invest. Trainers gain credibility and a stronger voice in business decisions.
Course Description
Participants apply evaluation to a training program they own or support. They begin with the end: clarifying the business or program outcome the training is meant to influence and working backward to behaviors and learning objectives. Next they explore a four-level evaluation model covering reaction, learning, behavior, and results, along with practical ways to estimate training's contribution among other factors. Workshops have participants rewrite a weak reaction survey, design a skills check, and plan a follow-up observation or manager interview. A segment on data storytelling helps them present findings honestly, including mixed results. Each participant leaves with an evaluation plan that fits their resources and the expectations of their stakeholders.
