Cybersecurity Awareness
Everyday habits that keep people and data safe online
Why It Matters
Attackers target staff because people are easier to fool than firewalls. One clicked link or reused password can expose client records, drain accounts, or shut down operations, and small organizations and public agencies are frequent targets. Technology alone cannot close that gap. Employees who recognize warning signs and report quickly turn a potential breach into a near miss, protecting the organization's data, funding, and the trust of the people it serves.
Course Description
Participants learn by examining realistic examples. They sort sample emails, texts, and phone scripts into safe and suspicious, then discuss the cues that gave each away. Further segments cover password managers and multi-factor authentication, safe handling of personal and client information, secure use of public networks and personal devices, and physical habits like locking screens. A scenario exercise walks through what to do right after clicking a bad link, emphasizing quick reporting without blame. Content can be aligned with the organization's own policies and reporting channels. Participants finish with a personal security checklist and a clear understanding of who to contact when something looks wrong.
