Mindfulness at Work

Short, practical attention practices you can use between meetings

Why It Matters

Many employees spend the day on autopilot: half-listening in meetings, reacting to every message, and replaying yesterday's problems while working on today's. That scattered state makes communication harder and small irritations bigger. Simple attention and presence practices give people a way to reset during the day. Organizations benefit when staff listen more fully, respond more thoughtfully, and bring clearer attention to customers and colleagues.

Course Description

Expect an experiential, secular session. After a plain-language introduction to what mindfulness is and what it is not, participants try several short practices: a breathing reset, a seated body scan done at a desk, and mindful listening in pairs. Each practice is followed by discussion of what people noticed and where it might fit in their day. The group then applies presence skills to common situations: entering a meeting distracted, receiving critical feedback, or switching between demanding tasks. Participants explore how to pause before replying to a provocative email. No experience is needed, and every practice is optional. Each person builds a small menu of practices tied to specific moments in their workday and a simple way to track whether they use them. This is general workplace education, not therapy.
